Somebody named Katrina Brown Hunt has issued coffee rankings and Miami ain’t on the list. It’s all the predictables: Seattle, Portland, San Diego, Minneapolis… San Juan, Puerto Rico, is thrown in there, too. Just cuz they don’t want to seem anti-Hispanic.

Thing is, the shmucks who took the survey don’t understand cafe con leche. These shmucks can’t comprehend the best coffee drinking is done at a ventanilla.

They don’t know the sound of an espresso machine as you stand at the window and look at the streetscape of Little Havana. That is damn sad.

They just ain’t Cuban. And that is too bad for them.

Me, I’d rather pour a colada for my coworkers than spend any time in those foggy cities of the West Coast that dominate the list, or head to NYC or Boston for their yuppy brew.

The coffee in Miami is misunderstood, but better.
