Hercules & Love Affair perhaps single-handedly ushered in the nu-disco era that South Florida’s hipsterati current find themselves dancing to. Their self-titled debut album was a breakthrough filled with glittery gems including tracks like “Blind” and “Hercules Theme.” While we wait for a follow-up, Andy Butler, the main force behind the group, was busy remixing tracks like Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” — improving it dramatically if you ask us.

We’d love to say we’ve witnessed the band’s grandeur live, but unfortunately Miami’s only gotten a taste of Butler’s skills behind the decks. First at the Vagabond and soon after at last year’s Ultra Music Festival. What sort of irks us is that Butler spins under the name Hercules & Love Affair, which always gets our hopes up that this will be the time we finally get to see the group as a whole live.

But we guess it just isn’t meant to be. Butler returns alone to Miami for a DJ set February 6 at Vagabond’s Back Door Bamby party.

While we cry for a bit, check out the video for Hercules’ single “Blind” and try to imagine what could have been.
