Ever wandered around the great South Florida outdoors, spotted
a strange looking bird but had no idea what it was, what it ate, or where it was headed for the summer–and really
wanted to know? Well, now there’s an App for that. Audubon of Florida’s gone
digital.

They’ve launched an “Audubon Birds Florida – A field Guide
to the Birds of Florida
” iPhone App. It features in-depth info on
376 different species, more than 1,200 photographs, more than 1,000 bird calls available in high-quality audio,
and the first web field guide community, AudubonGuides.com.

Bird watching’s gone high-tech with their search options, which include looking
for your aviary friends by name, species, scientific name, shape, and even the
bird’s current zip code. The App also includes visitor information on Birding
Hot Spots, and specific information on Florida’s surroundings, along with
up-to-date info on identification, behavior, habitat, range, diet, nesting,
mating, migration, endangered status, and much more. All of these features
make the $6.99 price tag not as hard to swallow.

And while you’re watching the
birds perched on those unique flowers, you might want to take a look at Audubon’s
other App for $4.99, “Audubon Wildflowers Florida – A Field Guide to the
Wildflowers of Florida
.”
