MB Brewhouse has closed after being open only about a month and never having an “official” grand opening, Eater Miami has reported.

The lounge and game room was reworked into a fun “date night” concept by co-owner and chef Josh Marcus from his Chow Down Grill after Marcus found too much competition in the casual Asian market.

MB Brewhouse, complete with bocce court, pool tables, beer, and bites, started off as a potential winner on the South Beach scene — a fun alternative to dinner and a movie or a night standing in front of a velvet rope, but the little brewhouse that could closed anyway.

In a twist of fate, Hurricane Sandy may have played a part in MB Brewhouse’s closure. On October 29, several blocks of South Beach were heavily flooded due to high tides from Hurricane Sandy coupled with a full moon. Though the restaurant didn’t sustain any damage, the parking lot and alley behind Brewhouse were flooded. Marcus confirmed to Short Order the loss of business due to the flood was a contributing factor in the decision to close.

For now, Marcus will devote his time to Josh’s Delicatessen and Appetizing, which was named Miami New Times’Best Deli 2012.”
