The MTV Video Music Awards have morphed into somewhat of a spectacle recently. Some groundbreaking pop culture news is usually broken, some rapper embarrasses a pop starlet, and some cheesy comedian always has a tendency to tell a joke that’s borderline too far.

The VMAs are trying to class it up a little with this year’s promos, as they’ve created a faux documentary series they’ve dubbed “The Road to the VMAs.” You won’t see any elephants or Spears a ‘la Britney in these.

In an attempt to join every kind of music fan out there together, MTV has

decided to pick musicians from practically every genre for their latest VMAs promos.

But will the crazy Ke$ha fanatics battle it out with the Biebs and catch the Bieber Fever?

We compiled our top five favorite promos of the series. In them, Eminem
gets out of a car crash just as it’s about to explode, Justin Bieber
channels a 60’s heartthrob, Nicki Minaj plays our favorite redheaded
comedienne housewife, Drake is Sinatra, and Ke$ha is well … just being
Ke$ha, flying out of a window in her underwear, into a world filled
with bright lights and moon men.

Oh yeah, and Chelsea Handler is
hosting this year’s show, taking place on September 12, so we’re sure
there will still be plenty of awkward jokes. Check out the videos below, and tell us which is your favorite.
