Oh, the sights and sounds of autumn — colorful leaves, cool weather, hay rides. Uh, wait, we live in Miami. What fall event does the Magic City offer and put its own unique stamp on? A tropical version of Oktoberfest, aptly named Grovetoberfest, taking place this Saturday from 2:30 to 7 p.m. in Peacock Park (2820 McFarlane Rd., Coconut Grove). While we won’t be picking apples and sipping hot cider while wearing scarves and boots, try throwing down $45 to mill about the buzzing crowd of beer enthusiasts and sample hundreds of beers — from local to domestic to international — while listening to music acts such as the acclaimed DJ Luis Beyra and Cuban-American artist Liza Quin. Learn about the five s’s of beer-tasting: see, sniff, sip, spit (or swallow), and savor. There will be plenty of food from vendors and appetizers to soak up the booze, and if you sample a bit too joyfully, Grovetoberfest has arranged a “safe ride home” program to tow your imbibed booty back home. With contests, VIP options, beer/food pairing demos, and a free sexy fantasy photo lounge, this event is the way Miami celebrates fall. Tickets cost $40 general admission in advance ($45 at the gate); $70 buys the Beer Socialite Package, and $90 scores the VIP package. Call 305-461-2700 or visit grovetoberfest.com.
