The Museum of Contemporary Art (770 NE 125th St., North Miami) likes to conceal its fundraising efforts beneath a cloak of mystery. With Mystery Dates, MOCA promises an excitement-filled evening and the opportunity to meet interesting individuals in a creative twist on a classic dinner party. First, you’ll arrive for cocktails and music at the museum to loosen your nerves and your tongue. Then, you’ll be handed an envelope that contains the mystery location of your dinner party. The dinner parties are held in the houses of prominent Miami art world players, and in addition to enjoying a Downton Abbey-style meal, you’ll get to tour their homes or studios and see how they display their contemporary art. Last, after dinner, you can attend a special afterparty at Set. “The event is meant to bring people who are interested in art and culture together in a relaxed environment that enables them to interact and get to know one another,” says Valerie Ricordi of MOCA. “The fun of Mystery Dates is that guests don’t know exactly where they’ll be going until they arrive at the museum, where they are handed an envelope with the big reveal.”
