Those poor Boston Celtics. The team went through a full-blown fire sale last season and now sports a roster of players that upon close examination looks like a toilet bowl the morning after a late-night Taco Bell run. As recently as last year, the intra-conference rivals drew a national spotlight and brought out some of the Miami Heat’s best basketball of the season. Now, the two-time defending NBA champions’ biggest concern is whether they’ll need to leave club LIV at 3 or 4 a.m. the day of the game. That doesn’t include the “hangover” effect either. Fortunately for fans, the Heat-Celtics matchup could still lead to surprisingly good basketball. Miami needs to win as many games as possible, particularly with the challenge the Indiana Pacers pose in the playoffs. While the threat of the Celtics may not be what it once was, they remain rivals; it nonetheless matters to take them apart.
