Art Appreciation on Two Wheels
To quote Queen, “Bicycles, bicycles… we love to ride our bicycles!” While the combination of art and cycling may initially seem somewhat incongruous, the third-annual Dwntwn Art Days Bike Tour scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. provides participants an opportunity to enjoy each. Bikers assemble in the courtyard of CIFO, otherwise known as the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, located at 1018 N. Miami Ave.
The adventure then begins with a tour of CIFO’s private collection before beginning a ride that takes in street murals in Wynwood, harness-bound dancers at Miami Dade College, a public art intervention at International Mall, a “noise show” at Downtown Art House, and a chance to gawk at Tasha’s Magic City Flea Market.
Along the way, there will be artist presentations followed by a postride picnic courtesy of Pollo Tropical. Best of all, the whole thing is free. Simply RSVP at beachedmiami.com/artdays to secure one of the limited spots. And while you may work up a sweat, there’s no reason to sweat the challenge. It’s a short ride at a casual pace. All you have to do is balance yourself on two wheels. Oh, and as the organizers say, it’s BYOB: Bring Your Own Bike. Lee Zimmerman
