Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You

We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$10,000

Tourists are scarce during Miami’s summer months for two good reasons. Just idly standing outside sends sweat glands into overdrive, and sudden thunderstorms often dampen one’s mood. But weather be damned! It isn’t going to stop the band of downtown misfits of Poplife from making the Sunday hangover a little more exciting by adding chlorinated water.

Just Add Water heads for Blade and its poolside area at the Fontainebleau and turns it into something of a visual paradox — hipster pool party meets ultra-luxe beach resort. The fashion norm is a combination of sunglasses in neon shades, short shorts on girls and boys, and children’s floaties worn ironically. But even if that’s not your taste, you’re still welcome. The DJ lineup changes weekly — usually the special guest the night before at Poplife will spin here — but this Sunday will feature the aquatic tunes of Mike Deuce and Induce. And nothing says independence from British rule like grilled meats, which Blade will serve poolside in addition to its full menu (all for a fee, of course).

The party starts at 2 p.m. and continues until sundown. Dips in the pool are free, but for table or cabana reservations, call 305-674-4690 or email info@epoplife.com.
