The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
Sylvia Plath described it as being trapped in a jar with no good air; for David Foster Wallace, it was like every cell in his body felt as sick as a nauseated stomach. Things didn’t end well for either of them. But that’s depression; this is the blues. The blues is something you swing low in for a while before brushing yourself off and showing up on time to get your teeth cleaned. And you get to live until the ripe old age of 94, like Delta blues legend David “Honeyboy” Edwards.
A Mississippi blues man and close buddy of the legendary Robert Johnson, Honeyboy still plays 100 concerts a year. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1996 and won the Life Achievement Award at this year’s Grammys.
