$10,000

We’d wager the richest person in the world is the guy who created the “I Heart NY” design that covers souvenir tchotchkes to T-shirts in Third-World countries. But Milton Glaser never received a penny when NYC officials commissioned his graphic design skills for a morale-boosting PR campaign during the murder- and drug-filled ’70s. Still, it’s a helluva line on his resumé alongside Glaser’s other achievements: iconic Bob Dylan posters, DC Comics and Brooklyn Brewery logos, as well as New York Magazine, which he cofounded in 1968.

Glaser claims drawing equals thinking, so it’s fitting that a documentary based on his legacy, Milton Glaser: To Inform & Delight, will screen at Miami’s museum of thinkism, the Wolfsonian, this Friday at 7 p.m. The graphic designer stills creates pro bono leftist slogan buttons for The Nation, so perhaps he wouldn’t mind sending a little visual magic to another city in need of a PR boost. Think we can fit “We promise not to murder or mug you” on a shot glass?
