After the University of Miami began its 2009 season with a pair of wins, dealing back-to-back ass-kickings to rival Florida State and always-tough Georgia Tech, quarterback Jacory Harris announced he would wear a pimp suit to the Heisman Trophy ceremony. And that’s how the U got its swagger back. But the team’s 31-17 defeat at the hands of Virginia Tech brought it all back to Earth as Miami posted a good but not great 9-4 record.
Now, with 13 starters returning to the lineup, Miami is entering head coach Randy Shannon’s fourth year, and the team is expected to bring home big wins in bunches. The U has a solid advantage because the team will face most of its biggest ACC opponents — Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech — at home. First, though, the Canes will have to drop some swagger on the Florida A&M Rattlers at Sun Life Stadium this Thursday.
