Magic City Casino has paired up with local comedy purveyors the Have-Nots to find the Ultimate Miami Comedian. Miami’s comedy scene is still a fledgling, compared to those of other major cities to which Miamians are always comparing themselves (New York, Los Angeles). But South Florida has some seriously funny talent, and Magic City Casino is offering one seriously exciting prize, especially for a young comedian with dreams of making it big: opening for Jon Lovitz, one of the best-known actors in Saturday Night Live history, on May 3.
Comics submitted to enter the competition at Ultimate Miami’s website, and contestants will take the stage this Friday to compete for the opening slot and a $5,000 grand prize.
It all goes down at 7 p.m. at Stage 305 (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami). The local competing talent hadn’t been announced by presstime, but a grand prize of five Gs should bring out Miami’s best. The city’s ultimate, even.
