The scent of basil resonates as you enter the farmers’ market at Gardner’s Market in Pinecrest. Surrounded by mounds of ripe tomatoes, strawberries, and regional vegetables, you know whatever you choose to cook tonight will be scrumptious. Here you’ll find the freshest ingredients in town every Sunday morning through April, but if you want to savor the dishes that others are creating with these fine pickings, don’t miss the Wine and Farm Festival across the street at Evelyn Greer Park.

This afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00, twenty chefs from fancy restaurants like Afterglo and Tantra will provide samples of their creations, and there will be a world of wines available for sipping. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit CHARLEE Homes for Children. There will be kids’ activities at the market, but you must be 21 to enter the festival and enjoy the wine.
Sun., Jan. 28, 1-4 p.m.
