Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Screw Sex and the City. Those ladies shelling out 20-dollar bills for a watered-down cosmo wouldn’t know a real drink if it splattered all over their precious Manolo Blahniks. Your appletini might match your designer handbag, but it won’t satisfy your carb-craving taste buds.
Carrie Bradshaws of the world, it’s time to wake up and smell the hops.
Luckily, the Filling Station & Garage Bar (95 SE Second St., Miami) is recruiting ladies who love lagers for its Barley’s Angels beer club. Every Monday night, beer-swilling babes will converge on the bar to learn a few tasting tips from guest brewers and sample the best of the latest microbrews. Members can swill from their own personal mugs, enjoy $2 pints on selected craft brews, and announce their beer-goddess status via a group member T-shirt. And you don’t need to be on a Manhattan budget to get in; membership costs just $25 per year. That’s less than 50 cents a week, assuming you want to drink beer with a bunch of rowdy women weekly. And we’re pretty sure that’s a safe assumption.
