The 28th annual Jewish Book Festival has it all – talented authors, screenwriters, journalists, and even a physician who dispels medical myths. On Monday, October 27th, the multi-talented Evan Handler opens the festival with his defiantly unconventional and humorous memoir, It’s Only Temporary. Although a prolific screenwriter, Handler is best known as the bald-headed actor Charlie, currently starring with David Duchovny on Showtime’s hit series Californication. We were first introduced to Evan when he played Harry Goldenblatt, Charlotte’s lovable and doting husband on HBO-TV and the big screen hit, Sex and the City. Now, Handler has penned a stirring love story and a classic coming of age tale, and shares his second chance at life after he survived an acute form of leukemia. In a collection of offbeat autobiographical essays, he tells of his search of ever-elusive love and happiness, his encounters with bullying wanna-be Hollywood moguls, returned engagement rings and his transformation from boy to man in only forty years.
