House, techno, jungle, drum ‘n’ bass, breakbeat. To an outsider, these terms equate to simply “untz, untz, untz.” But for EDM insiders, these subgenres are as distinct as twins are to their parents. Consider T.S. Heritage the ultimate insider. You won’t find him venturing into one of the megaclubs or über-elite lounges where urbane house music has gained notoriety. Instead his upbeat brand of nu-jazz and soulful brokenbeat tracks fits like a puzzle piece into the underground scene that Heritage firmly champions. The DJ and producer got his start spinning breakbeats for drum ‘n’ bass party Beatcamp under the alias T. Farmer. Although he has remained under the radar for the past few years, Heritage has released a few remixes and original tracks on his imprint Boosted Recordings. Springtime also brings the DJ out of his cave for WMC, during which he hosts and promotes for the Transatlantic party. So even if your brain isn’t an EDM encyclopedia, take a cue from Heritage and ditch the ritzy-glitzy scene for an unassuming dance party.
