Oye, it’s time for the second annual Urban Latin Music Festival and you know what that means. Lots of rump-shakin’, bass-thumpin’ Latin and hip-hop music. All the musical bases are covered with the bachata band Aventura, Huey Dunbar doing tropical and salsa, the Spanish hip-hop of Majic Juan, Fulanito with merengue, rap group Gang Starr, R&B/hip-hop pop group Lumidee, and the Latin funky neosoul of Yerba Buena. And there will be poets performing too: Deborah Magdalena, the Prophet, Amy Baez, and Alonso. Plus, DJ Frankie Needles and the Soulfrito dance team will make sure there’s nary a moment of rest onstage. But don’t worry, you’ll have all day to enjoy the acts. Hosted by Lala from MTV, the festival is designed to bring minority communities together through the celebration of urban and Latin culture. The festival runs from 2:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Bayfront Park, 301 Biscayne Blvd. Tickets range from $20 to $50. Call 305-371-2431. — By John Anderson

We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Miami. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
The members of Radiohead can breathe a collective sigh of relief. Now that their seventh album, Hail to the Thief, is burning up record charts and a chorus of critics regularly sing hosannahs, not to mention the string of sold-out appearances, it’s safe to say they are certified rock stars now. Singer Thom Yorke’s trademark strained angst and dark, reeling lyrics have contributed to the band’s cultlike following. Smart, bitchy, and perpetually pained, Radiohead offers a dose of en masse altrock pop psychology. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre, 601-7 Sansbury’s Way, West Palm Beach. Tickets range from $33 to $39. Call 561-793-0445. — By Juan Carlos Rodriguez

Renowned concert pianist Bennett Lerner knows composers. Some of his buddies include or have included Christopher Berg, Robert Helps, and Aaron Copland. At the Lincoln Theatre (541 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach) tonight at 8:00, Lerner will pay tribute to his cronies in a performance titled Music by My Friends. He’ll pound out Berg’s Tango-Meditation, Helps’s Recollections, and with the aid of another chum, pianist Howard Herring, Copland’s Variations on a Shaker Melody (from Appalachian Spring), to name a few pieces. Lerner has lived in Thailand for the last 13 years, but this concert will be a homecoming of sorts for him. In the audience will be his sister, Miami City Ballet honchette Toby Lerner Ansin, and his 93-year-old dad, who should be convinced by now that all those dollars thrown toward piano lessons paid off! Tickets cost $5 and $10. Call 305-673-3331. — Nina Korman
