Bulla, the hip Coral Gables gastrobar that serves modern takes on traditional tapas, is expanding its horizons with the opening of its second South Florida location.

Bulla Gastrobar Doral opens Tuesday, May 3, at the Shops at Downtown Doral (5335 NW 87th Ave., #C102).
The 5,500-square-foot restaurant will offer indoor and outdoor seating, as well as private dining areas for parties and functions. The space, designed by Celano Design Studio, has a loft-like setting with an open kitchen and bar as focal points. The space will also include a tapas bar. The outside area is fashioned after a mercat in Barcelona.
Doral diners will find many favorite dishes by Diego Solano, Regional Chef for Centurion Restaurant Group (Bulla's parent). However, Bulla Doral's executive chef, Miguel Rebolledo, will add some personal touches. The chef, whose resumé includes legendary El Bulli, will offer some of his favorite tapas and paellas from Spain. “Born and raised on the coast of Spain, I love mixing my traditional Spanish recipes with new and interesting techniques. At Bulla Gastrobar Doral, I’m looking forward to working with chef Diego Solano and using my passion for Spanish cuisine."
Chef Rebolledo and his team will fire up dishes on a Josper, which works as both oven and grill at the same time. Dishes from the Josper include the cubano ibérico ($19), made with pan de cristal, bellota ham, piparras, presa bellota, tetilla cheese, and mustard aioli.

Favorites such as the huevos Bulla (eggs with homemade potato chips, Serrano ham, potato foam, and truffle oil, $10) and croquetas de jamón ibérico with fig jelly ($10) can also be found.

The cocktail program, led by Joel Mesa, will offer drinks from Bulla's Coral Gables menu, along with some new recipes specially designed for the new location.

Bulla Gastrobar Doral will be open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 10 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to midnight, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
