From 1994 until 2008 the Miami Hurricanes were on a historic talent producing run, with a player being selected in the first round of the NFL draft every year for 14 years.
Since then, however, not a single ‘Cane has gone in the first round. That drought may finally be over.
Several mock drafts have junior offensive tackle Ereck Flowers projected as going in the first round. ESPN’s Todd McShay has Flowers going 12th to the St. Louis Rams. Walter Football projects Flowers as being picked 18th by the Browns. CBS’s Dane Brugler thinks Flowers will head 32nd to the Denver Broncos.
This all despite the fact that Flowers has a year of eligibility left and still hasn’t made his intentions clear.
Meanwhile, senior linebacker Denzel Perryman, who is definitely headed to the NFL next year, is also getting first round buzz. ESPN’s McShay has him going 32nd to the Broncos.
Meanwhile, junior running back Duke Johnson hasn’t decide whether he’ll stay with Miami, though some have him being projected as high as a second round pick.
