Whoa, boy. Marco Rubio was once written off as a long shot in his race against Gov. Charlie Crist for the Republican nomination for Senate, but Rasmussen says the two are now neck-and-neck.
They’re tied at 43 percent — in that poll anyway.
Also according to Rasmussen, Democrat Alex Sink is slowly closing the gap in polls between herself and Republican Bill McCollum. The latest numbers put just five points between the two, with McCollum at 44 percent and Sink at 39 percent. In October, McCollum had an 11-point lead, 46-35.
McCollum leads among men by 9 percent and independent voters by a two-to-one ratio. Only 12 percent remain undecided, with 5 percent preferring some other candidate.
Meanwhile, Crist, who once had enviable favorability ratings, has seen his numbers even out: 52 percent approve of the job he’s doing, while 44 percent disapprove.
President Obama, though, might be one of the few people envying Crist’s numbers. Only 44 percent of Floridians approve of his job performance, with 55 percent disapproving; 46 percent “strongly disapprove.”
