Music news didn’t entirely dry up when Lil Wayne went to prison, and by the way, we have this great beat that we’ve been messing with in Garage Band that sounds a lot like crickets chirping.
Fortunately, Weezy has enough people on the outside working for him that WeezyThanxYou.com could become a reality. Not only does the site have a countdown sidebar reminding us that in 215 days, bloggers can resume normal overproduction of content related to the rapper. Also coming soon, Wayne’s ESPN blog! Holding out hope for a recipe column, but we’ll see.
Today, the site posted a letter Weezy wrote to his fans titled “Gone ’til November.” In it, he writes: “So for my time here, my physical will be confined to the yard. My love and my spirit, however, know no boundaries.”
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
A lot of good ground gets covered here. We learn what he’s thinking about (“My kids race through my mind all day”), what he’s up to (“I work out a lot because it helps pass the time. I read the Bible
everyday”), and, of course, some mighty eloquent words to the fans to close it out.
“The same way yall miss me, I miss yall, only 100 times more. To thosewho hate. Hate is only a form love that hasn’t found a way to express
itself logically. Keep sending the letters and I promise keep
responding. Thank YOU, thank YOU, thank YOU. No matter what they do to
erase me, my love for you will always be permanent. Remember that. Take
care. God bless.”
