Ballet dancers, like basketball players, are worshipped for their impressive hang time and their uncanny ability to fly across the stage in leaps and bounds — feats that most humans could only achieve while on wheels or under the influence. And for this reason, the grand jetés and pliés are most often left up to the pros. After all, when was the last time you heard your Aunt Isabel telling you about “Ballet Night” with the girls from the church? Tonight at the Colony Theater, you can watch the professionals from Ballet Gamonet work.
The show runs until Sunday, March 25, and features a program that includes exquistely choreographed performances of “The Cyclical Hour,” “But I Never Saw Another Butterfly,” Prokofiev’s “Second Piano Concerto,” and “Aria.” The show starts at 8:00. Miami Beach residents receive $5 off adult tickets with proof of residency.
