Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re $1,500 away from our spring campaign goal!
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Every winter, cold-blooded Miamians go seriously loco. Just a slight drop in temperature prompts the masses to reach for their North Face puffer jackets and aesthetically appalling Uggs faster than you can say “fugly.”
Still, it can get pretty chilly in the Magic City this time of year. And though most of us are lucky enough to keep warm during South Florida’s winter days, others are not as fortunate. ’Tis the season to give back, and this Friday, Covers for the Cold at Will Call (700 NE Second Ave., Miami) is encouraging just that.
The Miami Artists Exchange, a newfound group by local artist Tatiana Enriquez, is hosting the charitable benefit to collect donations and warm clothing for Camillus House, a full-service center providing continuous care for Miami’s less fortunate.
There will be a lineup of comedians (Daleena Segui, Kristen Black) and bands (the Deadly Blank, the Nothing Left, Krisp) as well as an art exhibit featuring works by the likes of Xibie Corea, Sergio Barreras, and Ivan Roque. Each attendee will receive an ornament and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize. Give and you shall receive.
The fundraising begins at 10 p.m. Cover charge is a voluntary donation of $10 and/or donations of food or warm clothing items (i.e., pants, jackets, long-sleeved shirts, socks, sweaters, shoes, and blankets).
