Since bursting onto the scene with “O Let’s Do It,” the Billboard Hot 100’s 62nd best song on April 3, 2010, Waka Flocka Flame has been going “hard in da muhfuckin'” record industry.
At 25 years old, the Atlanta rapper has established himself as one of the hardest-working artists in hip-hop. To date, the 1017 Brick Squad MC’s dropped 11 solo mixtapes, 13 collaborative mixtapes, and one studio record. Later this year, Waka will release Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family, a followup to 2010’s Flockaveli.
Before he does, however, Waka Flocka Flame’s kicking off his spring break with a party at SoBe Live on Thursday. Get to know the rapper with these three fun facts.
1. Hello, my name is “Magic City, Fucking King of Diamonds”: Like most rappers, Waka Flocka’s arsenal of monikers is deep; however, our favorite alias is Flocka’s ode to Miami from his latest song, “Everything’s a Go.”
2. Waka Flocka, Animal Lover: In 2011, Waka posed nude in an effort to raise awareness for PETA’s “Ink, Not Mink” campaign. Turns out the ATL rapper has a soft spot for animals.
3. Waka thinks Illuminati is bullshit: According to Mr. Flame, there’s no such thing as a devil-worshipping hip-hop crew. “If people stop being so nosy and stay out of people’s business, maybe the name Illuminati won’t be created…. I don’t believe in that shit.”
