Tuesday night the Miami Heat threw an elaborate “We Are The Champions” party at American Airlines Arena, a night that ended in them dominating the Chicago Bulls, and landing in Philadelphia at 3 a.m. Wednesday they woke up, had breakfast, fell down 19-0 to the Philadelphia 76ers, and got their asses stunned 114-110. In just a 24-hour span, the Miami Heat managed to remind the struggle is REAL.
Rookie Michael Carter-Williams had one helluva NBA debut. Carter-Williams finished with 22 points, 12 assists, and 7 rebounds for the Sixers, while Evan Turner had a game-high 26 in the upset of the back-to-back defending champions. Spencer Hawse finished with 24 points and nine rebounds, SPENCER HAWSE.
Yup, this game was a huge pain in the ass.
LeBron had 25 and 13 assists in the loss, noticeably tiring towards the end, driving the lane and coughing up the ball numerous times in the last few minutes. Bosh had 22 and 10, while Ray Allen scored 19, including four threes, one of which was a 70 foot heave at the buzzer that capped off an incredible 45 point Heat third quarter.

Dwyane Wade sat out the game in what was the first, of what promise to be many, installments of his “Maintenance Spo-gram”. “It was not pre-planned, it was something our trainers and coaches came to me with,” Wade said. “It’s early in the season, it’s just a precaution.” Roger Mason Jr. made his Miami Heat debut after being inactive in the opener, starting in place of Wade. Mason Jr. finished with three points in 15 minutes of action.
The Heat committed 19 turnovers, leading to most of the Sixers 26 fast point breaks, and their eventual loss. The Heat meet the 76ers next in Philadelphia, on January 17th, AND I SMELL REVENGE!
