It’s official: The holiday buildup has begun. And, in the U.S. at least, that means mostly one thing — shopping. For better or worse, Americans show love and holiday cheer through mass consumption. It’s not that other things aren’t important; we just like stuff. Expensive stuff. Cheap stuff. Big stuff. Small stuff. This seems to be the motivation behind the fourth “Small Stuff” exhibit at Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery (4566 N. University Dr., Sunrise), located above Tate’s Comics. In contrast to more traditional art shows where items remain on display even after being purchased, “Small Stuff” is a cash-and-carry show. You buy it, you take it, and it should satisfy your need to consume, magnified as it is by the holiday shopping craze. Look for small-format, affordable finds such as twee portraits by Miami artist Danny Brito and pop paintings by Danielle Estefan. “Small Stuff” is up until January 8.
