If the University of Miami/Florida State rivalry is supposed to be one of the most storied in the game, how come this year’s matchup isn’t sold out? Oh, right. Probably because neither team has been relevant on the national title scene for years. Nowadays, the matchup barely has implications for the ACC title.
The Orlando Sentinel‘s FSU sports blog says there are still plenty of tickets available for the big Labor Day game. ESPN seems to think it should be a popular draw: The channel will broadcast it nationally.
Meanwhile, FSU has already sold out tickets for the BYU, Boston College, and University of Florida games. Meanwhile, it seems that tickets are still available to all UM home games, even though Land Shark stadium holds 5,500 less seats than Doak Campbell.
The game goes down in a mere two weeks, September 7, and is the opening game for both teams.
