Tony Goldman, the Miami restaurateur, entrepreneur, and real estate visionary who passed away Tuesday, will be remembered at Temple Emanu-El of Greater Miami in a funeral service today at noon.

Goldman’s work in real estate forever changed the course of Miami’s development. He saw Wynwood’s potential to become a thriving arts community and encouraged artists to create works and galleries there, working with local government to make the district more visitor-friendly. Goldman also helped transform South Beach from a sleepy retirement community into an Art Deco hotspot.

A notice of this afternoon’s service reads, “He was a transformational, once in a lifetime figure, who will be remembered as what a man at his best can become.”
