While other clubs come and go, SoBe’s Mansion is like that bottle of ketchup that’s been in your fridge for years — kinda old, not as red as when you bought it, but still delicious atop a mound of fries. In nightlife terms, the “fries” are Friday nights, and yes, Mansion is still delicious and even more so now that lovebirds Tony and Tina are making the best day of the week into their wedding night.
There’ll be flowers and cake and champagne and… a scripted show that’s one of the longest-running comedies in American theater. Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding is the story of, er, Tony and Tina’s wedding, but these nuptials aren’t confined to the stage. Nor are you required to hush as the scenes are played out. Since there’s no fourth wall in this production, the audience is encouraged to interact with the cast, and if the mother of the bride asks you to rumba, you’d better do it. The original show puts on an Italian-American wedding, but this version leaves out the red, white, and blue — and gets a Latin spin, complete with bilingual DJs, a traditional Cuban-Italian wedding dinner, and a conga line. It’ll cost you $73.49 ($94.79 for VIP) to watch this theatrical union go down. Dinner and cake are included. The happy couple ties the knot each Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7 p.m. Starts: July 24. Continues through Dec. 19, 2009
