Never known for moderation, the Overthrow crew wasn’t about to let Art Basel Miami Beach week slip past without plotting some kind of epic descent into nth-level fun and excess.
Hence, Basel Castle, a 12-hour carnival of tuneage, booze, games, freakshows, and other odd arty stuff. Already, superfly Brooklynite Theophilus London, Amanda Blank‘s new band Sweethearts, and ex-Miami electro popper Jesp (AKA Joseph Espinoza) have been confirmed on the muzak side of things — not to mention DJs Heroes + Villains, Tamara Sky, Damaged Goods, Troy Kurtz, and Pirate Stereo.
There’s also gonna be carnival game art installations from San Fran novelty studio TOTT Global and pop-art mastermind Greg Mike’s Atlanta-based ABV Gallery. And apparently, retro-obsessed jewelry and apparel designer Han Cholo will be rigging up some kind of “pop-up shop/freak show.”
Extra extra bonus: It’s all powered by Pabst Blue Ribbon. Oh, yeah … Hipster fucking fuel.
Basel Castle 2010 starring Theophilus London, Amanda Blank’s new band Sweethearts, and Jesp, with DJ sets by Heroes + Villains, Tamara Sky, Damaged Goods, Troy Kurtz, and Pirate Stereo. Saturday, December 4. The Castle, 41 NW 20th St., Miami. The party starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 5 a.m., and admission is free. Visit theoverthrow.com.
