Streaks are generally a good thing, unless we’re talking about those people in England who run around naked at tennis and soccer matches. Or the Florida Marlins. The Fish had a pretty cool streak a few weeks ago when they went 15 straight games with ten or more hits — something that hasn’t been done since the 1937 St. Louis Browns. Yet Florida still dropped must-win games. When the Marlins faced the Atlanta Braves two weeks ago, they were supposed to use those multiple hits to beat their NL East rival and get a foothold on the Wild Card race. Instead, the pitching imploded and, with it, their postseason dreams. The Wild Card is now a long shot, but there’s still time for revenge as the Marlins host the Braves this Thursday at LandShark Stadium. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m.
