Nothing beats the freeing feeling of flying a kite on a fall day. What’s that you say? You don’t have a kite? No worries: Skyward Kites will give you the hookup at today’s fifteenth annual Kitetoberfest. Event organizer Dan Ward describes the fest as a “family fun day” filled with music, food, and plenty of kite flying — as long as the sky is clear and the ocean breezes are blowing. Other activities include paper kite building demonstrations and competitions for the serious flier. There will also be Wonka-worthy “candy drops” from sky-high soaring kites, plenty of cheap eats, and prizes for the little ones. You’ll be free-flying today from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Haulover Park. Admission is free. Call 305-893-0906, or visit www.skywardkites.com.
