Last summer, we got to see fútbol powerhouse Barcelona take on Chivas, and the result was 71,080 fans showing up to watch the Mexican underdogs take down mighty Barca. SunLife Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami Gardens) was a gargantuan soccer party complete with trumpets, fireworks, and fans yelling expletives in Spanish at the players of both clubs. It was amazeballs. This year promises to be just as crazy, as England Premier League’s Chelsea F.C. takes on Italy’s Sirie A league’s A.C. Milan Saturday night as part of the World Football Challenge. It’s the first time Chelsea, boasting international superstars such as Fernando Torres, John Terry, and Frank Lampert, has visited Miami (rosters have not officially been announced). For Milan, the defending Italian league champs, it’s their first appearance since 1994. Expect a raucous good time with some of the world’s best soccer players putting on what is sure to be a kick-ass display of the world’s most beautiful game.
