Since the turn of the millennium, both fate and faith have held Tercer Cielo together.
It began when Juan Carlos Rodríguez, a well-respected music producer and composer, invited his friend, Marcos Yaroide, to record new material together under the name Tercer Cielo in the Dominican Republic. The pair released three records together — En Ti, a self-titled followup, and Ahora Tengo Algo Más — before Yaroide left the group to pursue a solo career in 2005.
Determined to continue what he started, however, Rodríguez joined forces with a Mexican-American songstress he’d worked with in the past, Evelyn Herrera. Fate brought them together, and the two have since carried Tercer Cielo into the spotlight of contemporary Christian-inspired, Spanish-language music.
Since becoming a duo in 2007, Rodríguez and Herrera have sold more than 1.5 million records and racked up several Latin Grammy, Premio Lo Nuestro, and Premios Billboard nominations. They’ve scored six Top 25 singles, even dominating Billboard‘s Latin Pop Albums chart in 2009 with Gente Común.
