Fresh — well, as fresh as one could be after doing an eight-hour set in New York City — from Pacha, hometown house DJ Oscar G is in charge of the Main Room at Space for the club’s Christmas party this Saturday. If you’ve bothered to read even this far, chances are good you want to know what’s going on with Murk, Oscar’s collaborative effort with fellow Miami DJ Ralph Falcon. At the moment, Falcon is wrapping up an album, after which the pair plans to continue the Murk: Made in Miami radio show. Past that, there has been some chatter about their launching Murk Digital as an outlet for their material, but that has yet to materialize.

Oscar is plenty busy enough touring, anyway, promoting his (totally fucking awesome) debut all-originals album, Innov8. Sublime, minimal, and more tribal than a herd of impala running from a squad of bushmen, it was crafted out of loops, song snippets, and assorted other samples to spotlight both his artist-producer side and his live DJ vibe. The album has helped step up his profile a notch — he made the cover of DJ Times this year — while giving his fans the special kind of gift that only comes along, you know, once a year.
