Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Your unassuming pooch is nothing short of beautiful after a trip to the groomer, but for the most part, he’s a regular dude that likes to keep the primping to a minimum. No pink bows, no fancy shirts — just a little flea bath every now and then. But the canines at this weekend’s Greater Miami Dog Club Show are a tad more high-maintenance and probably pamper their fur with the Marcia Brady treatment — 100 strokes a day.
For this beasty beauty showdown, the entrants will be judged on conformation, obedience, rally, and agility skills. So if you think your pet’s trick is the best, head to the Fair Expo (10901 Coral Way, Miami) Saturday and Sunday to watch the purebred pros rip and run through obstacle courses and heel as if their lives depended on it. From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., pups from the Bulldog Club of South Florida and the Gulfstream Rottweiler Club of Greater Miami will put their best paws forward to try to take home the blue ribbon. Admission is free. Visit www.rogersdogshows.com.
