Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden will open this year’s Annual International Mango Festival with a Mango Culinary Conference, a day of panel discussions that pairs Fairchild’s tropical fruit experts and local chefs to talk mango.
Chefs Andrea Curto-Randazzo, Norman Van Aken, Allen Susser and author Madhur Jaffrey are among the participants in the July 9 conference, which will center around the different culinary uses of the fruit. The conference is open to the public and precedes the two-day mango festival, which this year includes chefs John Critchley of Area 31, David Bracha of River Oyster Bar, Gonzalo Rivera of La Marea and Jeff O’Neill of Gibraltar in its lineup. Next Food Network Star contestant Aria Kagan will also participate.
Cost for the conference is $40 before June 25, $50 before July 5 and $60 on site.To register, contact Annie Stamps at astamps@fairchildgarden.org. Tickets to the mango festival on July 10 and 11 are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for children 6-17.
