Grupo Anderson, one of Mexico’s largest restaurant groups, is opening Porfirio’s Restaurant this Thursday, July 3.
The restaurant, which launched in Mexico City in 2012, is bringing its brand of fine dining to SoFi with traditional Mexican dishes. The 200-seat restaurant, located at 850 Commerce St., features a wraparound bar (to hold all that tequila) and a two-story light fixture that dominates the space. A patio boasts a ceramic fountain.

Starters include a ceviche trio ($14), guacamole ($12), and esquites, cooked corn kernels prepared tableside ($9 for three portions).

Main dishes include a selection of quesadillas and tacos, including rib-eye and crisp pork skin varieties ($14) and cast-iron grills available in turf (a selection of steaks and sausage, $45), surf ($55), and surf ‘n’ turf ($60).
All menu items are designed to be paired with a large array of cocktails and spirits, including 100 tequilas displayed in polished wood cases. Can’t decide on a brand? The restaurant’s mezcal concierges can assist by creating a custom pairing menu.
The restaurant is part of Grupo Anderson’s expansion into the States. The company, which owns popular vacation hot spots Señor Frog’s and Carlos’n Charlie’s, plans to open 20 locations in the U.S., including Señor Frog’s Miami, set to launch this winter.
Porfirio’s opens Thursday, July 3. Hours are Monday through Sunday for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Valet parking will be available.
