A pop-up restaurant is, by definition, an eatery that occasionally pops up in a space permanently inhabited by another restaurant. By that description, we’re not sure that Love & Vegetables, a monthly vegan dinner party held at Earth ’N’ Us Farm (7630 NE First Ave., Miami), a one-acre permaculture sanctuary in the middle of Little Haiti, qualifies. But the tent-and-treehouse-dwelling, beekeeping, emu-tending, and organic-composting individuals who call Earth ’N’ Us home aren’t the types to get caught up in semantics.
The Love & Vegetables vegan food event takes place throughout the fall, on the third Saturday of each month, beginning this Saturday. The menu will be crafted by four veggie-loving local chefs and will aim to balance the three doshas, which Ayurvedic teachings say are responsible for all movement, metabolism, and structure of the body. The amount of the donation for the meal is up to the guest; the Love & Vegetables philosophy is to “pay what you can,” even if that means scrubbing dishes or picking fresh herbs to earn your dinner.
Earth ’N’ Us offers a farm tour at 5 p.m., followed by the first of two dinner seatings at 6. Late diners can opt for the second seating at 9. Guests can expect some spontaneous live entertainment to complement the farm-fresh vegan meals.
Sat., Sept. 15, 6 & 9 p.m., 2012
