Nothing beats a truly clever play on words. Case in point: Miami City Ballet’s Open Barre event, where there will be, of course, an open bar. Ba-dum-ching!
MCB will be hosting a sneak peek performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, the most elaborately detailed production of the season. This weekend only, join the company for a special viewing of scenes from the holiday staple followed by a lecture — with plenty of time to munch on free hors d’oeuvres and sip cocktails beforehand. As part of the company’s “Dancer Journal” initiative, Open Barre aims to explore remarkable topics related to the company. This event allows guests to booze and schmooze with new members, and gives cultured types a chance to glance behind the scenes of the company’s grandest ballet of the year. The open bar will run from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., with the performance and lecture to follow. It all takes place tonight and Saturday at the Ophelia and Juan Js. Roca Center.
