When Kyle Abraham brought his troupe Abraham.In.Motion to Miami last year, he blew everyone away. The group’s performance, The Radio Show, was an astoundingly beautiful and sensual blend of movement, music, and political commentary. Steeped in an urban and hip-hop aesthetic from his hometown of Pittsburgh, Abraham has transcended easy stereotypes, making his troupe hard to classify – in a good way. That’s why “Live! The Realist MC,” coming to the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach) courtesy of MDC Live Arts Friday and Saturday, is so exciting. After piling up a heap of awards and fellowships in the last year, Abraham returns to Miami for a second run. This time, the tendency toward misogyny and homophobia in the hip-hop world is challenged in a story loosely based around a young Pinocchio’s desire to be a “real boy.” But that’s not really what’s important here: the pure motion of Abraham’s company is pure pleasure to watch.
