Of course, Michael McDonald began his rise to White Chocolate-dom as an essentially unknown background-voice-for-hire on such Steely Dan classics as 1975’s Katy Lied, ’76’s The Royal Scam, and 1977’s Aja.
By the mid ’70s, though, he had joined the Doobie Brothers, with whom he recorded “Real Love,” “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Little Darling,” “It Keeps You Runnin’,” “Minute by Minute,” and “What a Fool Believes,” helping to inspire millions of post-hippies to commit spontaneous acts of free love on waterbeds, shag rugs, and mattresses in the backs of vans.
Since ’82, he’s been doin’ it solo. And now the legendary 62-year-old singer of love songs (“Here to Love You,” “Can’t Make It Love,” “Let Me Go Love,” and so many more) wants to spend Valentine’s with you, grindin’ and drinkin’ and eatin’ at Miami Beach’s most iconic love nest.
