Josh Naylor and Stone Garrett are ranked the Marlin’s second- and fourth-best minor-league prospects. In fact, Naylor was the team’s first draft pick in the 2015 MLB draft. Garrett was the team’s 2015 Minor League Player of the Year. Not only are they teammates with the Marlins’ Class A minor-league affiliate, the Greensboro Grasshoppers, but they’re also roommates.
Of course, because this is the Marlins, something had to go hilariously wrong between the two.
Garrett has now been placed on the injured reserve list after suffering a laceration to his hand that required three stitches. The Marlins are flying him down to Miami to have the injury checked out.
The reason: Naylor, 18, played a “knife prank” on Garrett, 20, at their shared apartment.

The team remains tightlipped about the exact details of the prank. Michael Hill, the Marlins’ president of baseball operations, tells the Sun-Sentinel: “Naylor has a reputation of being a bit of a prankster, but this one obviously went a little too far.”

Has anyone ever heard the phrase,”Knife prank gone right”? How would that even work? Someone almost gets seriously injured by a sharp object?
In any event, the Marlins aren’t sure how long the gash will keep Garrett out of the game, but they’re hopeful that it won’t be too long and that the injury won’t have any effect on Garrett’s game.
Either way, it’s a tough break for Garrett. He had just recovered from a back injury he sustained earlier this year.
