Cantina La Veinte, a waterfront Mexican restaurant and bar, is opening at Icon Brickell this summer.
The restaurant, which has three locations in Mexico, is being brought to the U.S. by Cinbersol Group, a hospitality company that has launched more than 30 restaurants and lounges throughout Mexico.
The first Cantina La Veinte opened in 2011 in Polanco, Mexico City, with two other locations opening in 2013 and 2014.

Alberto Cinta, co-founder of Cinbersol Group, is looking forward to expanding the concept to the United States. He says the company chose Miami, “because we feel it is the bridge between Latin and North America, with a worldly crowd who will appreciate this exciting concept.”
The 220-seat indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar will feature a floor-to-ceiling black onyx bar with antiqued mirrors and a pyramid-shaped, black-and-gold chandelier. An open exhibition kitchen will show off the chef’s work, which includes handmade tortillas. The space will showcase Mexican folk art and will also offer wines, cheese, coffees, juices, and sandwiches to-go in the adjacent mercado.
Mexico City’s chef Santiago Gomez will offer authentic Mexican cuisine like cecina de yecapixtla — thinly sliced smoked beef, herb Requesón cheese, farm-fresh cream, and nopal cactus salad; chiles rellenos güero, a fresh “xcatic” pepper stuffed with smoked marlin ceviche and passion fruit coulis; and huachinango frito, a deep fried, whole-roasted boneless red snapper with chile de arbol salsa and crisp garlic flakes.
Cantina La Veinte is scheduled to open summer 2014, and will serve lunch and dinner daily. Discounted valet parking is available for guests.
