Taking a cue from what we all learned in diver’s ed (and then promptly forgot about as soon as we hit the road), is South Miami’s RA Sushi, which this month began its Red Light/Green Light Thursdays.

Actually, it’s more like Red Bracelet/Green Bracelet, but why quibble over semantics? The deal is this: You show up any Thursday night to check out the opposite, uh, merch and get a green bracelet if you’re single and looking, and a red bracelet if you’re taken and not a cad like Jesse James (or for the ladies, a cadette like LeAnn Rimes).

Of course, there’s more to it than just bracelets. There’s a guest DJ from 8 p.m. until midnight, $4 well drinks, and $5 Kirins, apple martinis, and cosmos. There are some food specials too, such as the single roll (tempura calamari, kani kama crab mix, and cream cheese with spinach tempura bits and eel sauce) and the taken roll (shrimp tempura, spicy kani kama crab mix, and cucumber with beet tempura bits and eel sauce). If things work out, you might even get to taste the jelly roll (never mind if you have to ask).

We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?

We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Miami. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Miami.

$30,000

And just in case you were wondering, there is no yellow bracelet for anyone who’s looking but chicken.
