$7,500

Soon, the Miami Art Museum (MAM) as we know it will no longer exist. The downtown mainstay that has stood as a cultural hub in the shadow of Government Center will move to its new home in Museum Park and be rechristened as Pérez Art Museum Miami in its new Herzog & de Meuron-designed building overlooking Biscayne Bay. But before that, the current campus will be put to bed with a bang and a barbecue.
Catered by Sparky’s Roadside Barbecue and set to music courtesy of Miami’s own Hot 97.7, MAM’s last public event — the Lights Out Closing Party — will say adios to Cultural Center Plaza by celebrating the legacy of the old space and the future of the new. The bash will coincide with the ongoing art project “The End” and will also display pieces from the exhibits “New Work Miami 2013” and “Frames of Reference: Latin American Art From the Jorge M. Pérez Collection.”

Sat., June 1, 7-10 p.m., 2013
