Cool dudes all over the world will be conflicted today. Why? It is Go Skateboarding Day and International Surfing Day. “Why would they do that?” asked Chris Williams of M.I.A. Skateshop (229 Ninth St., Miami Beach; 786-621-3511, www.miaskateshop.com). “That’s dumb; a lot of people like to do both.” Exactly. But if you begin early — and skip work — you can skate all morning, take a nap, and then head out to the waves near First Street and Ocean Drive around 7:00 p.m. for the Surfrider Foundation’s “Save the Waves” Surf Day. Sure, there will be some surfing, but dudes will also be able to do good deeds by helping to clean up the beach. The afterparty will take place at Nikki Beach, where Lance-O will be spinning his best reggae, ska, and alternative; Suenalo Sound System will provide live beats; and a fundraising raffle could land you all sorts of cool gear. Visit www.surfrider.org/southflorida for details.
