Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures Miami New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Unfortunately $10 doesn’t go very far these days. It’ll buy you a large sub from Quiznos, two hours of parking in South Beach, or a dime bag of oregano, all three of which might leave you feeling unfulfilled. But tonight it will allow you to gain entry into a night of the Future Sound of Soul Music at the Wallflower Gallery. The concert will feature South Florida soulsters giving you more than your 10 bucks’ worth, and according to event host Chris Imperial, the show is all about bringing the integrity back to Magic City music.
“The reason why I’m doing this is because when people think of South Florida music currently, they think of crunk music, gold teeth, and really, really, really disgustingly, cheap-looking jewelry — in my opinion — and they think of illiteracy. So I wanted to try and do something intelligent,” he says. Now we think that’s $10 well spent. The show starts at 8:00 p.m.
